Holding Park Aquatic Center to open this Saturday
The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department and the Recreation Advisory Board (RAB) are inviting the community to the official opening of the Holding Park Aquatic Center, 133 W. Owen Ave., this Saturday, Sept. 22, at 10 a.m. The PRCR and RAB are commemorating this special occasion by offering free admission to the facility from 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Please note: The Holding Park Aquatic Center is limited to a maximum of 300 patrons.
The opening festivities will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony with brief remarks by Mayor Vivian Jones and PRCR Director Ruben Wall and free hotdogs – while supplies last.
The Town of Wake Forest recently completed work on the $3.2 million aquatic center. The new facility is comprised of three bodies of water, including a six-lane, 25-yard lap pool; two water slides with plunge pool; and children’s pool with sprayground.
The aquatic center will also be open free to the public Sunday, Sept. 23, from 1-7:30 p.m. The facility will then close for the fall and winter before re-opening during Memorial Day weekend in 2019.
